Early Years Program Homeroom Teacher

Role Summary
An EYP Homeroom Teacher is an informed, reflective practitioner who uses inquiry-based learning and teaching strategies to create a positive learning environment that motivates and challenges all learners to develop attributes of the IB Learner Profile to become independent, life-long learners and leaders. Demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude towards others.

The EYP Homeroom Teacher will ensure student success and provide for the individual learning needs of each learner.  He/she will be responsible for creating an inquiry-based classroom and teaching within the IB’s Early Years Programme (EYP) philosophy. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively plan and deliver units of study aligned with IB Early Years Programme (EYP) principles.
  • Create clear, achievable objectives for each lesson and deliver well-organized, inquiry-based lessons.
  • Reflect on teaching practices to identify and implement improvements for future instruction.
  • Design engaging, differentiated lessons that accommodate all learners’ needs and abilities.
  • Integrate technology and other learning resources meaningfully into teaching.
  • Facilitate experiential learning through field trips and outdoor activities.
  • Foster a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and break down concepts to enhance learner understanding.
  • Encourage conceptual and contextualized learning to promote deeper understanding.
  • Use varied assessment methods (formative and summative) to gauge student progress accurately.

The requirements

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
  • 5 years of teaching experience in an international school.
  • Teachers Service Commission (TSC) registration certificate.

  • PYP-focused professional development.
  • Knowledge of Early Years Program Teaching.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multicultural collaborative team and environment.

ECDE Class Teacher

Role Summary.
Providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children to learn and grow in order to enhance early development of children, fostering a love for learning and supporting their social and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities to support the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development of children.
  • Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes exploration, creativity, and independence.
  • Provide a variety of learning experiences, including play-based activities, group discussions, and individualized instruction, to cater to the diverse needs and learning styles of children.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to promote open communication and collaboration.
  • Monitor and assess each child’s progress and development, maintaining accurate records and providing feedback to parents on a regular basis.
  • Support children in developing essential skills, such as language and communication, problem-solving, fine and gross motor skills, and social interactions.
  • Promote good behaviour and discipline through positive reinforcement techniques and age-appropriate classroom rules and expectations.
  • Encourage the development of independence and self-help skills, such as toileting, dressing, and eating.

P1 Teacher

The position

P1 Teacher – Mathematics & Social Studies

We are seeking to recruit a P1 Teacher competent to teach Mathematics & Social Science. The position holder will be based at our Primary School Kisumu.

Key Responsibilities

  • To prepare and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the school’s vision and mission.
  • To collaboratively develop unit and lesson plans for the curriculum
  • To ensure students acquire excellent knowledge and skills so that they make progress, achieve their targets and are prepared for the next stage of their careers

Sports/PHE Teacher

  • The Sports/PHE Teachers will responsible for advancing learners’ physical ability and knowledge of sports. Be responsible for the welfare of the students by ensuring that they gain the qualifications they need to advance their education or their desired career paths after school. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Be in a position to develop programs to meet the needs, abilities and interests of learners using a range of instructional techniques and media.
  • Supervising practical PE lessons, including both indoor and outdoor classes.
  • Ensuring that learners compete to their ability level and aren’t exposed to unnecessary injury or illness through school sports.
  • Motivating learners to take up new sports.
