Field Maintenance Supervisor
PURPOSE OF ROLE
- The role is responsible and accountable for proper professional maintenance of the Mechanical Tea Harvesting (MTH) machines and other powered Field Technology equipment for grass cutting, pruning, weeding, auging and others, as and when they are introduced in the field to ensure highest agricultural standards and quality of tea and productivity is maximized.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To develop a service schedule, plan the Autonomous and preventive maintenance (AM/PM )of all MTH machines and other Field Technology equipment in the company under them, ensuring full adherence to outlined guidelines as per manufacturer’s recommendation.
- Identify skills gaps of the SPH Technical Operators, Estate and Field Mechanics and work with Field Technology Officer with the support of HR to develop a skills plan on annual basis for continuous skills improvement.
- To carry out required repairs to all MTH machines under him/her for use in the field and closely monitor availability of spares required for continuous operation and availability of MTH machines.
- Oversee the maintenance teams in all departments under him/her and ensure that standard procedures and instructions for repairs are implemented.
- Ascertain proper repairs, necessary testing and adjustments to control quality of repair work to accomplishment.
- Carry out fabrication of gliders, frameworks and any other parts as may be required for operational or safety purposes for fitting to MTH and other field technology machines.
- Assembly and testing of newly acquired MTH and other field technology machines.
- Visiting of MTH estate workshops at the units to check adherence to maintenance, proper use and safety. Advise on proper operation and maintenance to units under them.
- Participate in new designs for modifications and accurately maintain all project details drawings / designs and specification for regularly updating and quality assurance.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Graduate in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related field from a recognized institution
- Minimum 3 Years’ relevant experience.

Assistant Production Manager
Role Summary
- The role is responsible for management of shift, productivity improvement and ensure production targets & parameters are achieved.
Role Responsibilities
- To coordinate implementation of the manufacturing process plan in a production factory and run a shift to produce tea to meet customer specification.
- To coordinate the implementation of TPM, OHSE (Occupational Health, Safety and Environment), Quality Management systems (QMS) and RA in the factory.
- Implement factory procedures and SOPS and ensure compliance by the production shift team.
- Implement IR/ER systems in the factory in conjunction with the line Manager.
Production and Planning
- Coordinate production shift to produce made tea that meet customer requirements.
- Implement Good Manufacturing practices in all sections of manufacture in the production shifts.
- Monitor production key performance indicators of the production shift; generate daily, weekly and monthly reports.
- Verify and consolidate daily, weekly, and monthly administrative returns.
- Keep and ensure accuracy of the production records, weekly and monthly tea returns.
- Communicates upwards/downwards/peers in the factory to ensure smooth flow of information.
- Act in the absence of the Manufacturing manager as per Company policies.
- Coordinate implementation of World Class Manufacturing Standards in the factory and ensure documentation of the improvements.
Quality
- Implement Quality and Consumer safety Management System in production shift.
- Ensure reception of Quality incoming raw materials during the shift as per company policy.
- Implement the good manufacturing practices (GMP) in the production shift to deliver quality made tea in line with customer/consumer specifications.
- Implement the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) system in the factory.
- Monitor and taste hourly and invoice tea samples.
- Initiate and implement quality improvement plans and activities in the factory.
Assets and Stocks
- Monitor and validate stock and non-stock movements.
- Dispatching of tea stocks and reconciliation of tea stocks in the factory.
- Provide input into the development of capital proposals in the factory.
- Responsible for the utilization of assets that includes process and plant machinery during the shift.
- Responsible for the company assets during the shift.
- Flag up redundant/obsolete assets to the Manufacturing Manager for disposal.
- Coordinate the day-to-day operation and smooth delivery of Utilities (firewood, steam, water and electricity) in the factory and villages.
- Maintains the factory register.
Proj\ects
- Keep abreast with all new technology covering tea making, market, packaging, maintenance, transport and energy usage and make proposals for change/improvements where appropriate.
- Carry out manufacturing trials and implement projects as agreed with Line manager.
- Collate and document innovative ideas for the factory and capture all improvement proposals from shop floor.
Finance and Procurement
- Initiate the requisition process for additional stocks in line section re-stocking levels and authorise issues of items from factory stores.
- Provide proposals for input into the annual budget preparations.
- Control direct budgetary expenses through resource allocation and utilisation in the shift.
- Implement production aspects of the accounting manual.
- Provide input into the monthly accounts review and implements agreed actions.
- Verify and consolidate daily, weekly and monthly financial returns.
People
- Implements employee establishment in the factory production shift.

- Handle any internal industrial/employees relation issues in the factory in conjunction with line manager.

- Implement all social welfare Policies, Programmes and Guidelines including security, housing maintenance, recreation, and general welfare amenities, and ensure schools under the factory responsibilities are of the required standards.

- Coordinate implementation of Safety, Health & Environmental and RA (Rainforest Alliance) management systems as per company policies and legislation in the shift.
- Authorize permits to work certificates in line with company policies.
- Coordinate implementation of standard operating procedures and specific work instructions and ensure compliance and collate proposals for reviews.
- Coordinate implementation of safe travel guild lines as stipulated in the standard.
- Maintains the factory disciplinary and safety data.

Business Integrity Officer – East Africa
ROLE SUMMARY
- The Business Integrity Officer – Plantations is responsible for embedding compliance with Lipton’s Code of Business Principles (the Code) and Code Policies and developing local due diligence procedures and other business controls with a view to embedding a compliance culture and achieving operational excellence in enforcing the Code between Lipton employees and relevant third parties within our Plantations in Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda.
- You will manage the Plantations Business Integrity Committee and be a respected and visible Go To person for the escalation of Code related issues within the Plantations.
- The Business Integrity Officer – Plantations must demonstrate the judgment, drive and influence needed to deploy Lipton’s Business Integrity programmes across the Plantations for optimal results, in liaison with subject matter experts and consistent with the global Lipton Roadmap for Business Integrity.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
PREVENTION
Education and Awareness:
- Global education and awareness programmes, monitoring of completion rates in Plantations.
- Additional education of specific Plantations employees / functional groups where required

RESPONSE
Code case handling and Investigations (breaches):
- End-end responsibility for all Code investigation in Plantations, from preparing investigation plan to sanctioning proposal and closing with the Plantations Business Integrity Committee. Escalation to and support the Leadership as and when necessary for cases handled by the Plantations Business Integrity Committee.
- Ensure all cases are investigated and concluded in conformance with defined global standards
- Documenting control and process failures and escalating to functional owners for remediation
- Reporting and tracking of process improvements
- Ensure quality of data input into the Business Integrity reporting system.
- Reporting on Code case statistics to the relevant Leadership Members.
- Informing the Leadership of any high-risk/reportable cases when these arise
Incident response
- Being a point of escalation within the Plantations and ensuring appropriate classification and review of compliance incidents
- Preparation of position papers regarding any (Code) compliance concerns / challenges / questions received
GOVERNANCE
Additional Code Committee Support:
- Code Business Partner to the Head of Tea Plantations – Africa and Plantations Leadership
- Support the Plantations Business Integrity Committee chair with agendas, reports, minutes and follow-up.
Organisation
- Point of contact for any Code related queries in Plantations.
- Managing the Plantations Business Integrity Roadmap and Business Integrity organisation
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Degree in Law or an equivalent qualification
- Minimum 7 years post qualification experience, out of which 2-3 years’ experience should involve compliance-related work.
- Candidate should have a good grasp of relevant underlying legal frameworks, compliance and risk.
- Ability to influence key stakeholders and to be an agent for change
- Ability to manage potentially sensitive and complex investigations.
