Policy, Partnerships & Advocacy (PPA) Intern
- Reporting to the Senior Manager, Partnerships, Policy and Advocacy, the Intern, Partnerships, Policy & Advocacy(PPA) will support in coordinating logistics for travels, meetings, training, and other events within the department to assist the team in fulfilling their overall responsibilities while at the same time learning on policy and advocacy work. This is an apprenticeship position and will run for six (6) months.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate logistics, communications, and other preparations like travel, training, or other events as needed by following through the procurement and finance regulations, rules, and procedures.
- Coordinating the department’s administrative errands.
- Activity and meeting scheduling.
- Meeting notetaking and document formatting.
- Organizing, filing, scanning, and photocopying of documents.
- File and archive all contracts, research, and training material developed and ensure its easy access to all members of the team.
- Manage the asset log and movement of PPA equipment.
- Any other task that may be assigned by the Senior Manager, PPA.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree, required, degree in related field preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel.
- Ability to multi-task and follow up on tasks to completion.
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships and work as part of a team.

Assistant, Community Partnerships
- Reporting to the Senior Manager, Partnerships, Policy and Advocacy, the Assistant, Community Partnerships will work with the technical leads to link the IJM mission with local communities, Justice centers, and congregations. The Assistant Community Partnerships will provide support in equipping and influencing community and church leaders to buy the vision of speaking out and defending the oppressed resulting in community and church leaders getting empowered, motivated, and committed, to seeking justice. The Assistant will maintain a great relationship with the community-based organizations and churches characterized by the grassroots movements taking initiative on justice matters. In addition to this, the Assistant will provide administrative and logistical support to the community and church partnership technical leads to ensure that they fulfill their overall responsibilities effectively.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate logistics, communications, and other preparations like travel, training, or other events as needed by following through the procurement and finance regulations, rules, and procedures.
- Develop and strengthen a network of grassroots communities and churches committed to leading their members through intentional education, empowerment, and commitment to justice.
- Ensure local grassroots CBOs churches are resourced with IJM Kenya knowledge packs and trained on Justice matters leading to empowered and equipped justice centers and justice ministries serving their local communities and protecting the poor from violence through practical ways e.g. giving and supporting victims of abuse.
- Develop and strengthen partnerships between grassroots institutions with local community justice centers to create a vibrant advocacy coalition for social demand.
- Develop and keep updated a constituency database of community and church partnerships that is kept regularly updated on policy, advocacy, and thought leadership efforts that are impacting the transformation of the criminal justice system.
- Any other tasks that may be assigned by the Senior Manager, PPA.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences from a well-recognized institution
- At least 3 years of proven experience in community and church mobilization efforts within the development world
- Prior experience coordinating logistics, and communications, by following through procurement and finance regulations, rules, and procedures.
- Previous networking engagement with Community-based organizations and religious institutions.
- Strong relationships with community justice centers and church institutions are a plus.
- Exposure to global and local church-led advocacy efforts is strongly preferred.
- Proficient in group facilitation, with a demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with members of the community, congregations, partners, staff, and colleagues with a high level of tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
