Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Logistics & Procurement Officer and the direct supervision of Logistics Assistant (Fleet and VAT Management) in Nairobi the incumbent will be responsible for driving IOM vehicles to transport persons and goods authorized by IOM in a timely, safe and costeffective manner.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
In particular, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
- Drive IOM vehicles (all types) and execute the tasks as assigned by direct supervisor.
- Ensure the safety of passengers, cargo and vehicle and observe traffic rules, road discipline with most direct and safe roads to the destination.
- Perform day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle to ensure roadworthiness.
- This includes daily check of tyres, brakes, engine oil, fan belt, etc.
- Prepare and submit weekly reports on vehicle status. Fill in the inspection sheet of vehicle status and share with the supervisor. Report promptly, to the direct supervisor, any defects or malfunctioning of the vehicle that require immediate attention for planning and control of regular services.
- In case of accident, inform direct and overall supervisors immediately; prepare written incident report and obtain a Police Report/Abstract.
- Maintain the vehicle road logbook, including the status of fuel and oil changes at all times.
- Complete the online database entry for the assigned vehicle in fleet database on weekly basis.
- Check daily status and availability of spares, jack, fire extinguishers and tools.
- Refuel the vehicle as required and perform compulsorily record in the log sheet.
- Maintain assigned vehicle clean, tidy all the times and ensure it is road worthy.
- Ensure that the IOM vehicles are only used for official/authorized business.
- Ensure that the keys are returned for safeguarding at the end of the shift or handed over to the next driver.
- Ensure a hand over form is duly completed and signed by both drivers during the exchange of vehicles.
- Ensure that driver’s SOP is followed without any breach.
- Prepare convoy security clearances and forward them accordingly to the IOM Kenya Field Security Unit and ensure vehicle is kept secured at all times.
- Collect and deliver mail, official documents and other items as needed.
- Adhere and comply to the IOM Drivers’ Code of Conduct, IOM Vehicle Policy and Safety and Security Guidelines for Operating IOM Vehicles.
- Keep a high degree of confidentiality and discreetness of discussions inside of IOM vehicle.
- Perform delivery of various mail/document/commodities as instructed. Perform any other duties relevant as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Completed High/Secondary school education with two years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- At least two years’ continuous driving experience.
- Valid Driving License (A, B, C, E class), PSV licenses is an added advantage;
- Possession of a Government driving test grade I and II;
- Possession of Mechanical certificate from an accredited school is a plus.
- Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Good knowledge of routes within the country.
- Good knowledge and working experience with HF and VHF Radios
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
- Availability to work during weekends and after hours as requested.
- Mature individual, able to work independently, paying attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
- Good computer skills, especially in Ms Office: Word, Outlook and Excel.
Language
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
Senior Migration Health Nurse – 2 Positions

Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief Migration Health Officer (CMHO) and the direct supervision of the Chief Migration Health Nurse (CMHN), the successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following duties and responsibilities in relation to the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Nairobi, Kenya
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Assist in the coordination of daily nursing activities in the Migration Health Assessment Clinic (MHAC) to fulfil the technical requirements of the resettlement countries in the areas of:
- Medical examinations
- Imaging;
- Laboratory testing;
- Vaccinations;
- TB management;
- Treatment and referrals;
- Pre-departure procedures and medical movements;
- Documentation, certification and information transmission; and,
- iOther technical areas as may be required.
- Provide health education and counselling to the migrants and/or refugee in relation to:
- The migration health assessment process; and,
- Treatments and referrals.
- Pre and/or post counselling on TB or HIV education, prevention, and management as appropriate
- Pre-departure evaluation
- Assist CMHO, CMHN in the development of information, health education materials.
- Ensure implementation of a proper identification procedure for all migrants and/or refugees in relation to health assessment process.
- Ensure implementation of Health Assessment Programme’s check lists and SOP’s, assist CMHO, CMHN to monitor standard universal precautions within MHAC.
- Participate in quality improvement and quality assurance procedures for nursing activities, contribute to review and update SOPs.
- Verify the MHAC pharmacy stock, analyze the data, and follow up on preparation of medical kits and emergency kits within the MHAC and for medical escorts followed the guideline if applicable.
- Create schedules, rotations and assign tasks to nurses, maintaining workflow, conduct assessment and providing feedback to CMHN for improvement.
- Facilitate in administrative reports preparation and program updates as necessary.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of mobile missions if applicable.
- Verify the pre-departure documents and assist in the preparations as necessary.
- Perform medical escort duties when required to ensure migrants receive continued care throughout all phases of migration (before departure, during the journey and at the final destination).
- Maintain collaborative relationships with various partners to facilitate the follow up and relevant information sharing. Partners include internal IOM departments, other health providers, panel physicians, embassies other UN agencies or NGO’s and others as applicable.
- Collect statistical information and share with the CMHO as per preset and agreed upon format.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited academic institution with four years of professional work experience.
- Master’s degree or higher from an accredited academic institution is advantageous
- A valid license to practice nursing in the country of duty station.
Experience
- Minimum of four years of relevant clinical experience with at least two years in a supervisory role
- Excellent technical skills, including in phlebotomy.
- Training or working experience in the areas of Tuberculosis management, mass immunizations, communicable diseases, laboratory testing or public health is an advantage.
- Knowledge of and experience in clinical nursing.
- Managerial experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of principles of preventive care and disease control.
- Knowledge of and experience in implementation of patient safety and infection prevention and control.
- Computer literacy required: MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access)
Language
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
