Ward Clerk (Locum)

Ward Clerks -(Locum) – Kisumu

  • Reporting to the respective Head Nurse, the Ward Clerk will be responsible for maintaining and controlling of unit stock to enhance efficiency in the care given as well as performing general messengerial duties for smooth running of the unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ordering of stocks in the assigned unit.
  • Receive, issue and control usage of stock items.
  • Keep records of daily patient data and prepare related monthly reports.
  • Ensure safe custody of patient documents / patient files.
  • Maintain high standards of Infection Control Practices as per policies.
  • General Ward operations.

The requirements

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Business Management or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in an acute care setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, administrative & customer service skills.

Porter – (Locum)

  • Reporting to respective Head Nurse, the successful candidate will responsible for assisting Nursing Officers with non-skilled tasks, pottering of patients, files and keeping patient environment safe for quality care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the transfer of patients to and from their vehicles, beds, chairs, wheelchairs, stretchers ensuring safety measures are adhered to.
  • Assist in wheeling and/transporting of patient to the wards, x-rays, ECG, physiotherapy, laboratory ,etc in the company of the Nursing Officers.
  • Maintain high standards of Infection Control Practices as per policies.
  • Ensure the environment is clean
  • Carry out messengerial duties as delegated from time to time.

The requirements

  • Minimum of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education
  • Certificate in Nursing Aid or equivalent from a recognized institution will be an added advantage
  • At least one (1) year of experience in an acute care setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and customer services skills

Health Care Assistants – (Locum)

  • Reporting to the respective Head Nurse, the Health Care Assistant will  be responsible for assisting the Nursing Officers with basic nursing procedures to offer support in ensuring personal hygiene and general comfort of the patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain patients’ environment.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living as needed.
  • Maintain high standards of Infection Control Practices as per policies.
  • Exercise economic use of supplies and use of stock
  • Timely reporting of breakages and non-functioning equipment
  • Run errands and messengerial duties as may be assigned including safe wheeling of patients.
  • Accompany stable patients for procedures.
  • Manages customer/client concerns
  • Demonstrate flexibility and team spirit for effective and efficient operations of the unit/department

The requirements

  • Minimum of a Certificate in Nursing Aid or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in an acute care setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and customer services skills.
