Finance Director

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Provide overall financial leadership and guidance aligned with RHNK’s mission and strategic direction, contributing to organizational strategy and decision-making.
  • Financial Oversight and Reporting: Oversee preparation and presentation of timely, accurate organizational general purpose financial statements and management reports to support decision-making at both management and board levels.
  • Budgeting, Planning, and Analysis: Lead the annual and multi-year budgeting process, guide budget monitoring, forecasting, and reallocations, and conduct financial analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Risk and Compliance Management: Oversee financial and operational risk management, ensuring effective internal controls, compliance with national laws, taxation, donor requirements, and international financial standards (GAAP, IFRS, IPSAS).
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Lead the development, regular review, and effective implementation of financial and operational policies to ensure accountability, transparency, and efficiency across all departments.
  • Grants and Contracts Management: Oversee financial management of grants and contracts, ensuring budgetary control, compliance with donor regulations, and timely submission of financial reports and supporting documentation.
  • Resource Mobilization and Sustainability: Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making and identify new funding opportunities, partnerships, and revenue diversification strategies to enhance RHNK’s sustainability.
  • Audit and Donor Assessments: Coordinate internal, external, and donor audits; ensure implementation and follow-up of recommendations from audit and assessment reports.
  • Board Secretariat Support: Oversee Board secretariat services and Support Board Finance and Audit Committee in preparation of board papers, and reports; ensuring timely follow-up on board directives.
  • Leadership and Capacity Development: Mentor and manage the finance, human resource, and marketing teams, fostering a culture of Knowledge sharing, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Operational and Partner Engagement: Ensure sound financial operations including cash flow management and accounting controls, and represent RHNK in financial discussions with partners, donors, other stakeholders and field teams

Location

  • The employee shall be based at the RHNK secretariat, and shall be required to travel at least 50% of their time.

Qualifications and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or accounting, Master’s Degree in the same or equivalent field, CPA or equivalent qualification a must.
  • A member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably in the non-profit sector and Sacco.
  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Experience managing funds from diverse funders.
  • Efficient with expertise in inventory control and processes, managing payroll, general ledger management, handling bank reconciliations, payment processing and management of Accounts payable and receivable.
  • In-depth understanding of accounting principles, such GAAP, IFRS, IPSAS and varied donor reporting standards.
  • Proficient in the use of accounting software, such as SAP, QuickBooks, Advanced Excel, SUN, Navision and various ERP systems to efficiently manage financial transactions, generate reports, and perform data analysis.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and diverse team environment.

Executive Driver

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate organizational vehicles to transport staff, visitors, and materials.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and report any issues promptly.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, both interior and exterior, and ensure timely servicing and scheduled maintenance.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and organizational safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle usage logs including mileage, fuel consumption, and trip records.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical faults to the supervisor or management immediately.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of materials as required.
  • Ensure proper handling and security of cargo or organizational property during transit.
  • Communicate regularly with dispatchers and supervisors for updates or routing instructions.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to all passengers.

Location

  • The employee shall be based at the RHNK secretariat, and shall be required to travel at least 80% of their time.

Qualifications and Experiences

  • Minimum of a high school certificate (O-Level or equivalent).
  • Additional vocational training or defensive driving certification is an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years of proven driving experience in a reputable organization.
  • Familiarity with local roads, traffic patterns, and road safety regulations.
  • Valid and clean driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle operated (e.g., Class B, C, or D).
  • Certificate of good conduct (police clearance)
  • Certification in defensive driving, first aid or road safety training is highly desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of traffic laws and road safety regulations.
  • Ability to carry out basic vehicle maintenance (e.g., checking oil, tire pressure, coolant, and battery).
  • Strong sense of responsibility, reliability and time management.
  • Good communication skills 

Grants Officer

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

The Grants Officer will;

  • Assist in the preparation, review, and submission of grant proposals, including budget development and narrative writing.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of grant-related documents, correspondence, and reports.
  • Track grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and deliverables to ensure timely submission and compliance.
  • Collaborate with finance and program staff to monitor grant expenditures and ensure adherence to budget allocations.
  • Assist in the preparation of donor financial reports and ensure compliance with donor reporting guidelines.
  • Serve as a liaison between program staff, funding partners, and other stakeholders regarding grant-related matters.
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations, policies, and procedures throughout the grant lifecycle.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of grant management policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Support capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing the grant management skills of staff members.
  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate donor financial reports on grant activities and financial status to immediate supervisor.
  • Monitor and document the grant making workflow processes, forms, templates, reports and data to assure full compliance with internal controls and legal requirements.
  • Maintain working knowledge of RHNK’s programs and priority funding areas and remain
  • abreast of current research, activities, and trends in the reproductive health sector.

Location

Qualifications and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as: Finance, Accounting, Economics or related fields.
  • Candidates with a Masters Degree preferred.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in grant management, donor compliance or financial oversight preferably USAID, FCDO projects etc
  • Experience in budget preparation, grant proposal review, financial reporting and sub-grant management.
  • Grants and contract management – from award to close-out.
  • Strong understanding of financial systems, budgets and compliance.
  • Analytical skills for reviewing budgets, financial reports and grant performance.
  • Familiarity with grant lifecycle: solicitation, selection, award, implementation, monitoring and closeout.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in grants management software 

Programs Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL) Officer

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and operationalization of project and organizational M&E frameworks, logic models, and performance management plans.
  • Develop and maintain data collection tools, indicator reference sheets, and reporting templates.
  • Coordinate regular data collection from field, implementing partners, and communities.
  • Conduct data validation and quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Prepare high-quality M&E reports, dashboards, and success stories for internal and external audiences.
  • Facilitate periodic reflection sessions, learning events, and after-action reviews.
  • Contribute to documentation of best practices, case studies, and lessons learned.
  • Support dissemination of evidence and learning products to influence policy and practice.
  • Build the capacity of program and partner staff on M&E tools, data management, and results-based reporting.
  • Provide mentoring and technical support to field teams on monitoring methodologies and evaluation standards.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of baseline, midline, and end line studies, surveys, and impact evaluations.
  • Support data collection and analysis for thematic and cross-cutting research in areas such as SRHR and gender.

Location

  • The employee shall be based at the RHNK secretariat, and shall be required to travel at least 60% of their time.

Qualifications and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Public Health, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related field. (Candidates with a master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in M&E within NGOs.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing M&E frameworks, PMPs, and indicator matrices.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools
  • Familiarity with donor reporting systems (USAID, FCDO etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable recommendations and learning products
