Principal Accountant

Duties and Responsibilities

Reports directly to the Chief Officer for Housing and Urban Development and will be deployed to head accounting section in the municipality to perform the following duties: –

  • Providing advisory services to the departmental head and other stakeholders on all financial matters
  • Participating and providing advice as expected of the office in Tender Committee and projects committee.
  • Interpretation and Implementation of financial regulations and procedures, Treasury circulars, letters and instructions; ensuring expenditures are within the voted allocations;
  • Developing supplementary financial regulations and procedures to enhance internal controls established through normal Treasury regulations and procedures;
  • Preparation of management financial reports which include monthly expenditure, returns, monthly bank reconciliation statements, and revenue/AIA returns, cash flow statements, analysis of deposits and maintenance of up to date and accurate books of accounts;
  • Safeguarding Government Assets and records

Requirements for Appointment

  • Bea Kenyan citizen
  • Bea holder of Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option) or related discipline from a recognized institution
  • A Master’s degree in MBA, Economics, Statistics, Finance or Accounting from a recognized institution in Kenya will be an added advantage
  • Be a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or other relevant professional body and in good standing;
  • Have at least five (5) years relevant professional experience in financial management/ Revenue mobilization,

Director of Agriculture

Dutles and Responsibilities

Reports directly to the Chief Officer for Food Security and Crop Development and is responsible for the following duties: –

  • Implementation of the strategic plan and objectives of the directorate,
  • Handling technical, administrative, human resource, budgetary and assets management Issues;
  • Team building and setting performance targets and standards in consultation with the Chief Officer;
  • Addressing stakeholders concerns and Instituting operational accountability; and
  • Incorporating new Initiatives In to the Directorate’s schemes of work.
  • Cost effective research to advance County and Sectoral priorities;
  • Modernize and make extension services responsive to customer needs;
  • Update and rationalize technical training;
  • Maximize sustainable gains from crop development activities;
  • Device and apply strategies to maximize value of land and optimize its use for alternative purposes;
  • Promote value addition to agricultural produce;
  • Enhance synergies between the County, the Ministry of Agriculture and Its agencies.
  • Enhance gainful cooperation between the sector and local/international stakeholders.

Requirements For Appointment

  • Be a Kenyan citizen
  • Be a holder of Bachelors of Sciences [BSc.] degree in any of the following fields: Food Science, Home Economics, Agriculture, Horticulture, Agriculture Economics, Natural Resource Management, Agribusiness, Agriculture Extension, Agriculture Education, or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution
  • A Master’s Degree in any of the following fields is an added advantage; Food Science, Home Economics, Agriculture, Horticulture, Agriculture Economics, Natural Resource Management, Agribusiness, Agriculture Extension, Agriculture Education, or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Knowledge and relevant work experience of not less than ten (10) years, three (3) of which must have been at senior management level In the public or private sector.
  • Possession of a management/leadership certificate for a course lasting not less than (4) weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated a high degree of professional and technical competence as reflected in work performance and results.
  • Certificate in Computer Application Skills from recognized institution
