Assistant Project Officer – Peace Building DREAM UP Project

Key Responsibilities:

Peace Building Management:

  • Fully responsible for the smooth, cost effective, efficient and timely implementation of Peace Building project activities in Kakuma and Kalobeyei as per the implementation plan and allocated budget.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager and the Project Officer Livelihoods  to ensure operational and administrative support to project activities.
  • Ensure community participation and involvement in peace building activities for success of their development process for sustainability. 
  • Facilitate DREAM UP initiatives geared towards reducing both intra and inter-community conflicts between the refugee and host in Kakuma and Kalobeyei in line with the Refugee Act, Peace Education Policy and the National Peace Building Policy.
  • Sensitize and engage peace committees, communities, government departments, school Children, youth and women groups on peace building initiatives and ensuring the smooth implementation of the DREAM UP interventions for the benefit the community.

Project design, implementation, monitoring and reporting:

  • Provide support to the design, implementation and monitoring of the project peace Building activities specifically in assessments and generating community priority needs in peace building to ensure effective Implementation  of the DREAM UP interventions
  • Timely execute activities as per project Detailed Implementation Plan in consultation with the Project Manager
  • Under the supervisory of the Manager generate regular monthly, quarterly and annual site Peace Building reports detailing the DREAM UP peace building activities

Networking and collaboration:

  • Represent DREAM UP  in Peace Building Forums at the field level and establish strategic partnerships with other organizations
  • Establish and liaise closely with other partners, agencies and local leaders regarding  project activities to ensure and promote a coordinated  approach to project implementation, including participation in relevant workshops, meetings and to keep the Project Manager  informed on the same

Required education, skills and experience:

  • Degree in Peace-Building, Sociology, International Relations, Conflict studies
  • 2 years field experience working with Communities in Peace-Building programming focusing on children
  • Computer literate especially (Ms Office applications)
  • Experience in working with communities in fragile context
  • Knowledge of humanitarian industry including sphere standards (Core Humanitarian Standards), NGO code of conduct and humanitarian charter, LCP and DNH
  • The holder of this position must be in possession of a valid motorcycle riding license and able to ride

Assistant Project Officer- Livelihoods-DREAM UP Project

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Implementation:

  • Implementation of all the livelihoods & resilience activities in Kakuma in collaboration with the Project Officer Livelihoods.
  • Stakeholders engagement including the target project participants in undertaking the planned project interventions, while maintaining the World Vision ethos.   
  • Team up with the Project officer to enhance coordination with respective government and private partners to ensure synergy building and joint execution planning.
  • Support the Project Officer to provide effective, innovative technical support ensuring integration for synergies with other project intervention

Quality Assurance – M &E, Reporting and Documentation:

  • Supervise and monitor project interventions in strict adherence to agreed standards
  • Together with the project officer undertake regular project progress review meetings with staff and communities
  • Ensure relevant project data is captured, validated and updated in the approved DM&E system.
  • In Liaison with project accountant, track project implementation expenditure levels, manage work plans and budgets

Advocacy, Engagement, Partnership and Networking

  • With support of the project officer Livelihood and the manager, work with respective Sub County & County Governments to leverage on financial and human resources to enhance synergy for project sustainability.
  • Participate in forums at the Sub-County and Ward levels as will be appropriate or as advised by the project officer
  • Enhance partnerships with government and private partners to leverage on technical capacity development for farmers, extension support, inputs, financial services and market access

Required education, skills and experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics/Agribusiness, agricultural extension with 2 years experience specializing in climate smart agricultural production, agribusiness, economic empowerment or
  • Diploma in agriculture with 5 years experience in climate smart agricultural production, agribusiness, economic empowerment
  • Experience in coordinating multi-sectoral projects
  • Experience in working with partnerships, including county governments, civil society, donors and local community’s structures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, and ability to work with a wide range of people from different backgrounds
