Lecturer /Assistant Professor /Associate Professor /Full Professor in Software Engineering
Job Summary:
The successful candidates will be reporting to the Dean, the School of Science and Technology (SST) and will be expected to teach, conduct research and engage in service performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach at undergraduate and graduate levels in the specific areas of specialization as listed above.
- Support and mentor students in their career endeavors.
- Participate in curriculum development activities to ensure that the programs are up-to-date and marketable.
- Participate in program assessment and reviews.
- Supervise students’ research (projects/ thesis/ dissertations) at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Engage in research in one’s area of expertise.
- Engage in service to the University, the profession and to the community.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience
To qualify for appointment an applicant must have:
Lecturer
- An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university and be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body.
OR
- A Master’s degree in related areas from an accredited university
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in teaching and/or industrial experience in the relevant industry;
- A minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed scholarly journal papers
- Be registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral degree qualification
- Be registered with the relevant professional body.
Assistant Professor
- A Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant area from an accredited University.
- At least 3 years of teaching/research experience at the university level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
- A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer/Research Fellow as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014, of which at least twenty-four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
- Supervised at least four (4) postgraduate students to completion as Lecturer/Research Fellow;
- Be registered by the relevant professional body, where applicable.
Associate Professor
- A Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant area from an accredited University.
- At least 3 years of teaching/research experience at the university level as a Senior Lecturer, Assistant Professor or Senior Research Fellow.
- At least forty-eight (48) publication points as a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow/Assistant Professor as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014, of which thirty-two (32) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
- Supervised at least five (5) postgraduate students to completion, including one doctoral student.
- Attracted research funds as a Senior Lecturer, Assistant Professor or Senior Research Fellow.
Professor
- A Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant area from an accredited University.
- At least 3 years’ teaching and research experience since being appointed at the rank of Associate Professor/Associate Research Professor.
- At least sixty (60) equivalent publication points as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014 of which at least forty (40) should be from refereed scholarly journals since attaining Associate Professorship.
- Supervised at least six (6) postgraduate students to completion, two of whom must be doctoral students.
- Attracted research funds since attaining the rank of Associate Professor.
