Frontend Developer

Responsibility

  • Under the overall supervision of the Head of the Events and Outreach Unit and Head of the Production Unit, the incumbent will be required to perform the following functions:
  • Creation, testing, implementation of templates based on Figma design layouts.
  • Creation of adaptive universally accessible templates (tablet, mobile).
  • Creation of frontend scripts and animations.
  • Develop specifications based on functional requirements and an implementation plan.
  • Keep informed on frontend development best practices and coding standards.
  • Collaborate with team members on development of web applications. 
  • Work closely with relevant Units in planning, technical layout, selection, and integration of applications.
  • Take part in the technical reviews and testing processes.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills

  • Technical Education: Certificate/Diploma/Engineer’s degree/Bachelor
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in web development, web best practices, responsive design, and current techniques is required. Technical experience in HTML, CSS, SCSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and PHP;
  • Working experience in Git version control and the command line is required.
  • Proven experience in Drupal, deep knowledge of Drupal coding standards is required
  • Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity is desirable.

Web Designer Consultant

Responsibility

  • Under the overall supervision of the Head of the Events and Outreach Unit, Head of the Production Unit and UN-Habitat ICTS, the incumbent will be required to perform the following functions:
  • Creation of new prototypes
  • Creation of design layouts for desktop computers.
  • Creation of adaptive universally accessible design layouts (tablet, mobile).
  • Develop a UI/UX design system for the future use.
  • Create guidelines for using the design system.
  • Keep informed on UX/UI best practices and coding standards
  • Collaborate with team members on building Customer Journey Maps for the systems built.
  • Work closely with relevant Units in planning, technical layout, selection, and integration of applications.
  • Take part in the technical reviews and testing processes.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills

  • Technical Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or any other related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Figma or similar software , web design with a focus on UX, web development,web best practices, responsive design, and current techniques is required.
  • Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity is desirable.

Intern – Innovation and Smart Cities

Daily responsibilities of the Human Rights intern may include but are not limited to

  • Monitor and analyze human rights developments and trends, including of economic, social and cultural rights, in the countries covered by the MCO, research and draft internal and external notes and reports within the assigned area and; prepare daily news updates with information on the human rights situation in those countries under the MCO;
  • Support the engagement of stakeholders with the UN human rights mechanisms, including Special Procedures and Treaty Bodies;
  • Assist efforts to integrate human rights perspectives in national and regional development policies, plans and strategies;
  • Assist with the organization of workshops and seminars; Participate and take notes in meetings/conferences, as requested; support the organization of meetings and events and perform other duties as requested by the supervisor, as appropriate.

Qualifications/special skills

  • To qualify for the United Nations Secretariat internship programme applicants must, at the time of their submission, be enrolled in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme (i.e. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree); be enrolled in a graduate school programme (i.e. Master’s degree or equivalent degree, or higher) or have completed an aforementioned academic degree, preferably in the area of law, human rights, international relations, public administration, political science, social sciences or a related field, AND, if selected, must commence the internship on the date indicated on the acceptance letter.
  • No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
