Market Research and Insights Manager
About the role:
This role sits within the Global marketing function and reports into the Global VP, Marketing.
The Market Research and Insights Manager is responsible for bringing the consumer perspective to marketing and the overall business by providing relevant data and insights to guide in strategic decision making. The Market Research and Insights Manager is an exhilarating, newly established role designed to reshape how we understand consumer needs in the renewable energy and off-grid solar sector. What you would be expected to do
- Strategy:- Create and execute a data and market research strategy, pinpointing key market, product, or customer engagement opportunities.
- Projects: Devise and develop market research and data insights projects as required. This may involve:
- Briefing external agencies and commissioning qualitative and quantitative research and having oversight on the design, implementation and reporting process,
- Leveraging primary and secondary research data and information to proactively identify business opportunities and gain internal support to act upon these.
- Designing and executing research studies of a qualitative or quantitative nature, and analyzing and reporting findings.
- In-House Market Research: Conduct internal market research activities, utilizing in-house resources to collect, analyse, and interpret data relevant to our strategic objectives.
- Internal Customer Engagement: Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders such as the communications, marketing, new product development, sales and other business partners, to identify needs, and to provide data and insights as a springboard for impact and sales.
- Vendor Management: Managing external agencies in the briefing, costing, negotiation and execution of research projects, including identifying the ideal methodology and providing oversight on the research process, data collection and integrity, and overall research outcomes.
- Knowledge Management:- Establish a central repository or mechanism for research data and reports management, to ensure seamless storage and easy retrieval by internal stakeholders.
- Market Outlook: Keeping track of the competitive landscape and overall market and consumer outlook across our markets and globally where relevant.
- ROI Tracking: Working with internal stakeholders to help track and maintain an ROI culture across marketing projects.
- Market Research Uptake: Ensure data and insights are seamlessly integrated into the workflow of communications and marketing teams through effective communication, follow-up, and creative support.
You might be a strong candidate if you
- Have a degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Have 5-7 years’ experience in market research, marketing, business analysis or international development research
- Are experienced in conducting research projects, including designing qualitative and quantitative studies and analysing data, and with a strong interest in keeping up with market trends and research best practices.
- Possess strong analytical skills with the ability to design research methodology, analyse and leverage data to develop strategy and provide insight-driven recommendations.
- Can compile data from multiple sources to tell a story.
- Are knowledgeable of business visualization tools
- Are a strategic thinker with good communication and presentation skills. Excellent writing, editing, and grammatical skills are mandatory
- Possess strong project management skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time, and manage multiple stakeholders
- Have demonstrated ability to distill complex topics into digestible content for multiple audiences and strategic discussions
- Have strong understanding of Africa’s market research trends and a good grasp of the African sales and commerce landscape.
- Are interested in African culture and the business environment.
- Are knowledgeable of Asian market research trends is a plus, but not a necessity.

Warehouse Manager
About the Role
We are therefore looking for a dedicated and passionate Warehouse Manager to join our Operations team. They will be expected to perform a variety of duties to ensure consistent service delivery as per assigned KPIs. This will include but not limited to Warehouse Layout Planning, Inbound & Outbound Inventory Oversight, Inventory Planning and Warehouse Associate team management.

More than 80 million people rely on Sun King’s solar home energy solutions across 40 countries, and the majority of Sun King customers live in areas where infrastructure is limited, where the electric grid is unreliable, or far from densely populated urban centers. The Sun King Operations team makes sure Sun King products are produced, shipped, imported, and distributed to consumers around the world and ensures that warranty products are promptly attended to, and end of life products are disposed of.
The Operations team is comprised of innovative, solutions oriented people that work closely with Sun King’s global and regional Research and Procurement, Sales, Finance, and Marketing teams to make sure hundreds of thousands of Sun King.
What you would be expected to do
Warehouse Operations
- Oversee the daily operations of the warehouse, including receiving, inspection, storage, and dispatch of finished goods, spare parts and merchandise at designated facilities within the set SLAs
- Coordinate on warehousing monthly billings based on agreed SLAs
- Following up with 3PL and all relevant parties to ensure order picking/filling is done accurately
- Ensuring dispatch to B2C & B2B networks is done in full and on time
- Timely follow ups with relevant parties on distribution anomalies
- Implement best practices for warehouse efficiency, including lean principles and cost saving initiatives
- Supervise a team of warehouse staff; KPI setting, tracking, including training and performance evaluations
Inventory Management
- Liaising with 3rd party partners to ensure the correct warehouse layout is maintained at all times to ensure space optimization
- Develop and maintain inventory control procedures to minimize loss and ensure accurate tracking of products.
- Liaising with the distribution and planning team to set inventory reorder levels
- Ensuring inventory is managed in accordance to the best practice of FIFO
- Planning and conducting cycle spot checks, monthly stock takes and end month stock reconciliations
Health, Safety and Compliance
- Ensuring basic maintenance standards and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Train, guide and evaluate new warehouse workers on safety rules.
- Ensure warehouse teams adhere to set warehouse safety guidelines such as but not limited to use of PPEs at all times.
Reporting and Analysis
- Generate regular reports on warehouse performance, including inventory levels, order fulfillment, and efficiency metrics
- Analyze data to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction
- Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
You might be a strong candidate if you
- Possess bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Transport and Distribution, Procurement and Logistics or Business administration. Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Have a minimum of 6 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management, with at least 4 years in warehouse management & logistics/distribution at a mid senior level
- Possess proven ability to work with distributors, 3PLs and sales teams to ensure smooth distribution operations as well as ability to implement process improvement initiatives
- Demonstrate knowledge of the relevant legislation pertaining to the region
- Are knowledgeable about inventory management, transport routes, warehousing and distribution networks
- Are knowledgeable and experienced with a robust ERP and WMS
- Possess advanced skills in large volume data management
- Have excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Are able to work remotely under minimal supervision
- Have effective People management skills
Imports Coordinator

What you would be expected to do
- Regulatory compliance and analysis to stay updated on new regulations and industry procedures to be applied in the company whenever necessary
- Plan, negotiate and coordinate with various business partners including carriers, freight forwarders, shipping & customs teams, transport subcontractors and warehouse teams to ensure smooth import and export operations
- Responsible for daily import/export support, including product inspection requirements & preparing GIT reports
- Build and maintain relationships with appropriate regulatory agencies(KRA, KEBS, EPRA, Ministry of Energy, Treasury, KEREA etc) as necessary to advance compliance with international shipping standards
- Serve as the primary contact with third party providers of electronic messaging services related to Cargo shipments inclusive of booking requests, customs statuses and e-AWB/Bill of lading requirements
- Maintain all end to end shipping documentations as well as process all imports and exports related payments
- Carry out ad-hoc projects based on business needs
- Continuously seek for opportunities to save cost or increase revenue to the company
- Contribute as team member to import/export compliance process improvements
- Manage any relevant operational issues and provide efficient and timely problem solving
- Represent the company at Industry Meetings and prepare analytical reports, as necessary
- Champion new technology improvements and system enhancements to meet international and interline business objectives
- Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor
You might be a strong candidate if you
- Have a degree qualification preferably in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Shipping, Procurement or related field. Certification in tax/customs administration an added advantage.
- Possess minimum 4 years proven hands on experience in international trade, shipping or logistics
- Have a good working knowledge and understanding of Foreign Trade Zones, compliant zone operations, and Inventory Control and Record keeping systems
- Experienced with import and export control commodity classifications and Product Classifications.
- Are an effective team player, with ability to work well with people
- Are knowledgeable and experienced with a robust ERP system preferably SAP
- Able to work comfortably with and maintain large volumes of data
- Possess strong multi-tasking abilities and the capability to prioritize competing issues
- Are goal-oriented and organised team player
- Are proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possess ability to work independently with minimal supervision
