Accountant

  • The accountant is responsible for collecting, tracking, and correcting the company’s financial records. They handle financial audits, reconcile bank statements, and ensure accurate financial documentation throughout the year under the guidance of the Senior Accountant.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage all accounting transactions.
  • Prepare budgets, revenue, expenses, payroll entries, invoices, and other financial documents.
  • Publish financial statements on time.
  • Prepare profit and loss statements and monthly cost reports.
  • Develop accounting reports.
  • Lead debt collection efforts by ensuring prompt client payments.
  • Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  • Ensure timely bank payments.
  • Compute taxes and prepare tax returns within the required timelines.
  • Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity.
  • Audit financial transactions and documents.
  • Explain billing invoices and accounting policies to staff, vendors, and clients.
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Manage the petty cash system within the company.
  • Ensure financial data confidentiality and conduct necessary database backups.
  • Comply with financial policies and regulations.
  • Participate in the tendering process.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) – CPA (K) certification is an added advantage.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, and iTax.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with cost analysis, taxation, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Critical, analytical, and creative thinking abilities.

Project Manager

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing and delivering custom software projects on time, within budget and to customer satisfaction. The Project Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams: business analysts, designers, engineers and testers to ensure clarity of requirements, effective resource management and seamless communication with stakeholders. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, excellent people management skills and a minimum of 5 years’ project management experience with certifications such as PRINCE2 or PMP.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Planning & Coordination

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, budget estimates and resource allocation.
  • Identify project risks, issues and dependencies; create mitigation strategies to ensure smooth delivery.

Execution & Delivery

  • Lead and manage cross-functional project teams (e.g., software engineers, QA, designers, BAs) through all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Track progress against milestones and deliverables, adjusting plans as needed to maintain alignment with project goals.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing regular status updates and facilitating transparent communication.
  • Manage client expectations and gather feedback to ensure project objectives meet or exceed quality standards.

Technical Oversight

  • Collaborate with technical leads and architects to understand solution requirements, contribute to solution design and ensure technical feasibility.
  • Ensure project teams follow best practices in software development, testing and deployment.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Develop and monitor project budgets, tracking expenditures and ensuring optimal use of resources.

  • Ensure project deliverables meet defined quality standards and comply with relevant regulations or best practices.
  • Conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and refine processes for improved future delivery.

People & Team Management

  • Motivate project teams, resolve conflicts and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain detailed project documentation, including schedules, risk registers, status reports and change requests.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive project updates to senior management and key stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONA AND SKILLS

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • PRINCE2 or PMP certification is strongly preferred (Scrum Master certification is a plus).

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in project management, particularly in software development or IT solutions.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex, bespoke or custom-built software projects on time and within budget.

Senior Accountant

The Senior accountant will play a pivotal role in assuring adherence to financial policies, activity policies and procedures, regulations, controls, and reporting systems. The individual will provide accounting and financial analysis support to the activity office and will ensure submission of financial reports based on internal deadlines. This position will ensure compliance of all accounting and financial reporting functions. Responsible for recording costs and day to day general accounting, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, risk management, managing partner relationships, assuring all backup documentation is audit ready, and troubleshooting accounting issues. The individual is also responsible for cash flow analyses, and the overall financial well-being of the activity.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Prepares vendor and payroll tax forms and ensure these are submitted in a timely manner
  • Prepares and submits monthly reconciliation reports for review
  • Monitors and reports on partner/vendor payment schedules and obligations
  • Assists in preparing information for any contractual financial reporting requirements (if applicable)
  • Conducts daily reviews of backup documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and full compliance
  • Ensures backup documentation is uploaded to relevant system according to set deadlines
  • Ensures that accounting policies and practices are carried out in accordance with the Kenyan Tax Code
  • Initiates wire requests for field activity implementation
  • Verifies vendor invoices for accuracy
  • Verifies accuracy of expenses, and activity accounting codes
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of invoices, advances and reimbursements, checks, and wire transfer payments
  • Performs monthly bank reconciliations and routinely monitors bank account balances
  • Compiles backup documentation for all activity related transactions, and ensures completeness and appropriate review and approvals are documented
  • Responsible for maintaining file management systems for soft and hard copy documentation
  • Ensures petty cash is maintained according to maximum petty cash policy, and that all petty cash procedures are followed
  • Prepares project expense vouchers (for all offices) ensuring accuracy of expense coding

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or an equivalent from a recognized university at a minimum
  • 6+ years of relevant experience and progressive responsibility in finance and accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA- K)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of internal controls and audit processes (e.g., procurement, local subcontract agreements, etc.)
  • Demonstrated report writing skills in English is required
  • Computer literate with e-mail and word processing. Excellent knowledge of MS Excel
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks and work as part of a team
